The Porst Compact Reflex S is a SLR camera. It was sold by Photo Porst, a large photo dealer from Nuremberg (German), and presented in the 1970s. It is very similar to the "Porst Compact Reflex SP", but it lacks the ability to easily capture multiple exposures and spot metering.
The lenses of the Porst Compact Reflex S can be replaced. For this purpose, an M42 thread was installed in the camera. In many cases the camera comes with the Porst Color Reflex MC Auto 1:1.7/50 mm. M42 lenses are attached to the camera by means of a screw thread and are very common. The focus of the lens must be adjusted manually, so there is no autofocus system.
In the Porst Compact Reflex S, an exposure meter with integral metering was installed. Exposure is measured by the lens of the SLR camera. The aperture and exposure time are freely adjustable. If you want to take long time pictures, there is the bulb-setting. In addition to a PC flash port, the Porst Compact Reflex S can be used with hot shoe flashes.
Films for the Porst Compact Reflex S
Without 35mm films, the Porst Compact Reflex S does not work. 35mm films are still produced by different manufacturers. Beautiful 35mm films for color or black-and-white shots are the Agfaphoto Vista 200* and the Kodak T-Max 400*.
The 35mm camera has a built-in self-timer. In addition, there is a connector for a cable release and a thread for a tripod. The camera has a weight of 540 g. The dimensions are 13,6 x 8,3 x 5,1 cm. The needed energy for the camera is provided by two 1.5 V silver oxide batteries.
Production of Porst Compact Reflex S was terminated and today you can only buy it used. The value of a used copy depends primarily on if it works correctly and in what condition the copy is.
