The Polaroid Sun 650 is an instant camera. Its range of functions is identical to that of the Polaroid One Step Flash Closeup. At the present time, of course, cameras of this type are no longer produced.
The Polaroid Sun 650 is characterized by its user-friendliness. Most of the settings found on other types of cameras have been omitted. Because of its simplicity, it can be used for many different occasions. Weddings or parties, for example, would be good areas of use for the camera. Even on vacation, the camera cuts a fine figure.
The basic settings are fixed on the camera. It is not possible to freely set shutter speeds and aperture values. The camera is equipped with a fixed lens. A zoom, which is common in smartphones, is not integrated in this model. A distance of 60 cm to the subject is necessary for sharp pictures. For this, the close-up lens has to be pushed in front of the actual lens.
An integrated flash could not be missing in the camera, of course. The flash fires automatically. Due to the small aperture, the use of the flash is just useful indoors.

For use with the instant camera, of course, the appropriate films are needed. For various reasons, the US company Polaroid has now given up film production. A new company has been distributing material for the film format again since 2010.
In the stores you can find a black-and-white and a color film. The Polaroid Color Film for 600* is the film for color photos. To create black and white images, you can reach for the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. How do the films perform in tests? Both instant films can convince in different situations.
One pack contains a film cassette with eight pictures. Since the film material is sensitive to light, it must not come into contact with it outside the camera. For storing unused film material, one should look for a cool and dry place.
One image has a size of 10.8 x 8.8 cm. The captured image takes up an area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The remaining area is filled by the familiar frame around the Polaroid picture. However, there are also edition with colorful frames.
Batteries
What do you need batteries for the instant camera? In this type of camera, you can find the battery in the cartridge with the unexposed pictures. The disposable battery contains the necessary energy for the camera technology with flash. So changing the film also represents changing the battery. There is no need for another separate battery for the instant camera.
If the camera with film has been stored for a long time, the battery may have discharged. Of course, without sufficient power, the camera will no longer function. The solution is to replace the inserted film with new material with fresh battery.

The first step is to load the film. To open the film door, the slider on the side of the body is pushed forward. The film cassette is inserted and the flap is closed again. The light-proof film over the film cassette is now automatically removed from the camera.

If you can't find the camera, you should resort to other options. Two popular alternatives would be the Polaroid One600* and Polaroid OneStep Autofocus*. These models are either functionally identical or offer a similar range of features. They are also suitable for the 600 format.
Alternatives to the Polaroid cameras also exist. Two particular models that are not made by Polaroid are the LomoInstant Square* and Instax Mini EVO*. The instant films are still produced for these models as well.
