The Polaroid OneStep Express is an instant camera for the 600 format from Polaroid. It was manufactured in the late 1990s.

The plastic camera is identical in functions to the Polaroid 600 (round top). The body of the camera is green and gray. Details, like the shutter release, are yellow.

Suitable films for the OneStep Express are manufactured by Impossible Project. Since 2020, they are also sold again under the original brand. For black and white and color shots, Impossible offers the Polaroid B&W Film for 600* and the Polaroid Color Film for 600*.

A battery in the film pack serves as the power source. This supplies power to the camera, the ejection mechanism and the flash. With each film change, the power source of the unit is automatically replaced. Unlike modern instant cameras, an additional battery is not needed. In terms of environmental protection, this feature is of course somewhat critical.

Instructions for the Polaroid OneStep Express

To take pictures with an instant camera, a few steps are necessary. First, the film must be inserted into the camera by sliding the slider on the side forward to open the film door. The cassette with the film material can then be inserted and the flap closed again. As soon as the protective cover of the film is automatically ejected, the camera is ready for use.

To take a picture, you have to aim through the viewfinder and press the release button. The motor in the camera ejects the image and the photochemistry starts developing the instant image. After a few minutes, the development process is complete and the photo can be inspected closely to see if the desired result has been achieved. It is important to carry out all steps carefully in order to obtain high quality instant photos.
