The Polaroid Amigo 620 is an instant camera for the 600 format. It is the successor of the Polaroid OneStep 600 Amigo 610 and was introduced by the American photo pioneer in the early 80s. The housing of the Amigo 620 is beige.
The biggest innovation is the close-up lens. If the small piece of plastic is pushed in front of the normal lens, shots are possible at a distance of 60 cm instead of 1.2 m from the subject.
Otherwise, it has the same features as the Polaroid OneStep 600, which means a fixed lens, automatic exposure that can only be influenced with a light/dark control, and no built-in flash. If you want to flash with the Polaroid Amigo 620, you need a "Flash 600" flash bar that plugs into the matching socket on the top.
Films for the Amigo 620 are no longer available from Polaroid. However, The Impossible Project, who took over an old Polaroid factory, offer good replacements. Since 2020, they have also been sold again under the well-known brand of the photo pioneer from America.
For the Amigo, that would be the Polaroid Color Film for 600* for color pictures and the Polaroid B&W Film for 600* for black and white.
A tip for working with the Impossible films is that there are only eight images in a pack. If the frame counter on the back, which counts down from 10, shows a "2", it is already time for a film change.
The battery for the power supply of the camera and the film transport is located in the film cassette. Thus, with each film change, the battery is replaced. An external battery is not needed for taking pictures.
