The Polaroid 600 Chococat is an instant camera. It was released to the public by Retrospekt in late 2024.

The camera is based on the original Polaroid One Step Flash model. This underwent a complete overhaul and functional testing before receiving a new design.

The design, as the name suggests, features Chococat motifs. This is not the first business collaboration between Retrospekt and Sanrio, the Japanese company that owns the rights to Hello Kitty.

Chococat is a black cat and part of the Sanrio character universe.

Design Features of the Polaroid 600 Chococat

The camera is a black Polaroid 600 instant camera. It has a boxy design with a fold-out viewfinder. On the front are two large, white circles with black pupils that resemble stylized eyes. A small, rectangular flash is mounted above the lens.

On the fold-out part, there is a green oval with the white "Polaroid" logo and a small red fish symbol above it. Below the lens, you can see a small slider with a plus and minus sign.

On the lower front of the camera, "Chococat" is written in white, flanked by colorful star motifs in red, blue, green, and orange.

Camera Features

The camera is equipped with a fixed focal length; there is no zoom function or manual focus adjustment. Exposure settings are automatically controlled by the built-in light meter; the light/dark slider on the front allows for minor adjustments.

The limited setting options ensure user-friendly operation and, after a brief instruction, enable the user to take pictures independently.

The built-in flash provides sufficient light for shots and fires automatically. The power required for the camera and flash is supplied by a battery in the film cassette, which is renewed every time the film is changed. Additional batteries are not required for photography.

Films for the Polaroid 600 Chococat

No film is included in the standard equipment of the instant camera; this must be purchased separately.

Suitable films for the Polaroid 600 Chococat are still commercially available, including both black and white and color films. The color film is known under the product name Polaroid Color Film for 600*. For monochrome shots with the instant camera, the Polaroid B&W Film for 600* is required.

One film cassette contains eight images. Once used, users must insert a new cassette. Film is not included with the product. The development time is between 5 and 15 minutes, depending on the film type.
