The Nikon TW Zoom 85 is a snapshot camera. It was introduced in 1992 by the Japanese camera manufacturer. A functionally identical model was sold under the name "Nikon Zoom Touch 600".

The photo camera comes with a fixed zoom lens. The zoom range is 32 mm to 85 mm. The maximum aperture is 32 mm at f/4.5. Focusing is facilitated by a built-in autofocus. The closest focusing distance of this lens is 71 cm.

A light meter is built into the 35mm photo camera. It is designed for taking pictures with films with a sensitivity of ISO 64 to ISO 1600. The film speed is read by the Nikon TW Zoom 85 using the DX code on the film cartridge. The exposure is automatically set by the 35mm camera.

A built-in flash is available for taking pictures in low light. At ISO 100 the range is 12.5 meters. The 35mm camera has a thread for a tripod and a self-timer.

The camera weighs 360 grams according to the instructions and measures 13.6 x 7.3 x 5.7 cm. The camera requires a DL223 battery (eBay / Amazon*). With one battery, you can use about thirty rolls of film.

Besides the normal model, a Quartz Date model was also sold. This model is able to print the date of recording in the image. There was also a corresponding version of the Nikon Zoom Touch 600.

For the built-in clock a CR2025 battery (eBay / Amazon*) is needed. For the installation a screwdriver is needed, but the battery is rarely changed.

Films for the Nikon TW Zoom 85

To take pictures with the Nikon TW Zoom 85, you need 35mm film. These films are still in production and can be obtained from almost every supplier of development work. Possible films for the camera are the Kodak Ultramax 400* for color images and the AgfaPhoto APX 100* for black and white images. With both films you can take nice snapshots.

The colour film is a colour negative film and is developed in the C-41 process. The C-41 process is offered by almost every photo lab. For example, you can give your films to most drugstores for development.

The black and white film is developed in a different development process. The development can be done in a photo lab. But it is also possible to buy the right chemistry and develop the film yourself.

The exposure area of the camera is 24 mm x 36 mm. This means that at least 36 photos fit onto a 36 frame 35mm film. There is also a panorama mode, but this only crops the image and does not enlarge the recording area (13 x 36 mm). The films in the 35mm photo camera are automatically rewound to the next frame. Rewinding into the cartridge is also motorized.
