Minolta SR-1s

The Minolta SR-1s is an SLR camera. It dates back to 1967 and was built by Minolta in a factory in Japan. It is a revised version of the Minolta SR-1 and comes with a faster shutter speed, the possibility to flip up the mirror and the possibility to connect a light meter.

The lenses of the 35mm camera can be interchanged. For this purpose, a Minolta SR bayonet was installed. You often meet the 35mm camera with the Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 55mm f/1.7. The Minolta Auto Rokkor-PF 55mm f/2 was also often offered with the SLR. The lens is focused by hand. The Japanese camera does not have an autofocus function.

The correct exposure cannot be measured by the 35mm photo camera, as it does not have a light meter. However, there was an attachment with CdS light meter. The aperture and shutter speed can be selected manually by the user. The camera does not have an automatic. For the shutter speeds, you have the choice between 1/1000 second to 1 second. If you want to take long exposures, you can use the Bulb setting.

The use of an external flash unit is possible via the PC flash socket. The camera has a thread for a tripod and a connection for a cable release. In addition, there is a self-timer. The self-timer has a lead time of ten seconds.

The housing without lens weighs 600 grams and measures 14.5 x 8.85 x 4.75 cm. The camera is mechanical and can take pictures without batteries.

Films for the Minolta SR-1s

You can't use the camera without photographic films. The Minolta SR-1s needs 35mm films. These films are still being manufactured and can be specified from almost any developing vendor. The film transport is mechanical. The camera has a quick release lever for this purpose. When the film stock is at the end, a small knob on the bottom must be pressed in and then turned on a crank. Then the back can be opened and the film can be removed.

Available photo films for the Minolta SR-1s that are easy to get are the Kodak T-Max 400* for haunting B&W shots and the Kodak ColorPlus 200* for beautiful color photos. According to reviews, both films deliver solid results and are suitable for a wide range of uses. Of course, you can also reach for films from other manufacturers.
