The Lomo'Instant Black is an edition of the Lomo'Instant from Lomography. It was introduced in 2014 right at the launch of the camera on Kickstarter. Subsequently, there were many more editions of the instant camera from Lomography.
As the name suggests, the body of the instant camera is black. The range of functions is identical to the other models in the series.
Films for the instant camera
The Lomo'Instant Black is designed for the instant film format "Instax Mini". Fuji still produces film for this format and also offers a variety of their own instant cameras for the film format. The films are not included with the camera from Lomography.
Currently, it is the smallest instant format on the market. The dimensions of a picture are 8.6 x 5.4 cm. The captured image is 62 x 46 mm. The rest is the frame around the image. The size is approximately the same as a credit card.
The individual pictures are in a special cassette. The cassette with the pictures goes into the camera. One pack usually contains 10 pictures. After 10 pictures the cassette must be removed again. The cost of one picture is about 70 cents.
After the exposure, the picture comes out of the LomoInstant Black. The development time is only a few minutes. The image quality of the color films (Instax Mini Film*) is quite good. The white frames around the images can be written on.
The Instax Mini Monochrome* is a black and white film for the Instax Mini format. There are some editions of the color film with colorful frames. The Instax Mini format is good for weddings, parties and scrapbooking.
The old Polaroid films cannot be used with this camera. The instant films do not fit into the Lomo'Instant Black just because of the size.
