Function overview

The lens of this 35mm photo camera is not interchangeable and remains permanently installed. According to the technical data, the largest aperture is at a focal length of 22 mm, the lens is a maximum of f/8. The distance to the subject can be set manually with this camera. With this camera, it is recommended to keep a minimum distance of 60 cm from the subject in order to get sharp photos.

Unlike some other cameras, there is no built-in exposure meter. The photo camera offers the possibility to use from a 1/100 second and the bulb mode. In Bulb mode, the shutter can remain open for a variable amount of time, exposing the film.

The La Sardina Cosmic camera is equipped with a connection for a cable release and a thread on its underside for a tripod. There is no self-timer.

The 35mm camera does not require batteries. All functions are mechanical.

Films for the La Sardina Cosmic

The La Sardina Cosmic requires photo film to take pictures. More precisely, 35mm films are needed. 35mm film is still made today and is fairly easy to obtain. The use of Fujifilm Superia 400* is recommended for color images taken with this camera, while for B&W photos Kodak TRI-X 400* is recommended.

The color film is developed using the C-41 process. Almost all external photo labs offer the possibility to use the C-41 process. A development of a 35mm color film is e.g. possible at most drugstore chains in Germany. The B/W film can also be developed at home as the development process is less complicated.

The exposure area of the 35 mm camera is 24 mm x 36 mm. There is no automatic film advance option in the camera, requiring the photographer to manually advance to the next frame each time.
