The Kodak Hobby is a viewfinder camera. It was manufactured by Kodak and presented in the late 80s. The model was mainly sold on the South American market. The camera was built in Brazil.

The lens of the camera cannot be changed. The focal length is unchangeable and is 44 mm. The largest available aperture is f/4.5. The focus of the lens is fixed.

The 35 mm camera has no built-in light meter. The only adjustment possibility is the ISO slider on the front of the camera. You can choose between ISO 100/200 and ISO 400, depending on the setting, a different aperture value is selected. The shutter speed remains the same in both cases and will probably be around 1/100 second.

The 35mm photo camera has a built-in flash. The Kodak Hobby has a connection for a cable release on the shutter release and a tripod thread. Two AAA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) are used for power supply. The batteries are only necessary for the flash, the rest of the camera works completely mechanically.

Films for the Kodak Hobby

Without photo films nothing works with the Kodak hobby. More precisely, the camera needs 35mm film. Films of this format are still easily available and are still being developed. Possible films for the Kodak hobby are the Fujifilm Superia 400* for color photos and the Ilford XP2 Super* for b/w photos.

The color film is developed in the C-41 process. This development process is offered by most laboratories. The monochrome film can also be developed in this process.

The exposure area of the 35mm camera is 24 mm x 36 mm. With a normal film (135-36) usually 36 photos are possible. The film in the camera has to be rewound manually by the photographer. There is a thumbwheel on the back of the camera for this purpose.
