The Kodak Cameo is a snapshot camera. It was produced by Kodak in Asia and introduced in the 1990s. It has the same features as the Cameo efm and the Cameo Focus Free, but differs from the other two cameras by its brown housing.

The 35mm camera comes with a fixed focal length. 34 mm is the focal length of the lens. The maximum aperture of the camera is f/5.6. The focus of the lens cannot be changed. To get sharp images, you need to be at least one meter away from your subject.

The camera does not have a built-in light meter, but has a sensitivity setting. With a switch you can choose between ISO 100/200 and ISO 400. Depending on the setting, the aperture of the camera is fixed. The exposure time is always 1/125 second.

The built-in flash provides enough light. If desired, the flash can be switched off with a slider on the front. The Kodak Cameo has a thread for a tripod. The camera requires two AAA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). Of course, rechargeable batteries can also be used for the camera.

Films for the Kodak Cameo

Without 35mm film, nothing works with the Kodak Cameo. These films are still in production and can be quoted by almost any supplier of development work. One possible film for color photography is the Kodak Ultramax 400*. A possible film for b/w images is the Kodak T-Max 100*.

The color film is developed in the C-41 process. This process is offered by almost every photo lab. So you can give your films to most drugstores for development. The black-and-white film must be processed in an appropriate developer. A variety of chemicals can be used here, the developer does not have to be from Kodak.

The exposure area of the camera is 24 mm x 36 mm. The film must be manually rewound by the photographer. There is a thumbwheel on the back of the camera for this purpose.
