The Instax Mini 99 is a state-of-the-art instant camera that offers a variety of features to take your photography to the next level. With its elegant design and user-friendly operation, it is suitable for both beginners and experienced photographers. It was launched in 2024. The RRP in Germany is 199 euros.
Versatile shooting modes
The camera has various shooting modes tailored to different scenarios. Standard mode lets you take everyday shots, while landscape mode is ideal for wide vistas. For close-ups of objects between 0.3 and 0.6 meters away, macro mode offers razor-sharp results. Sports mode freezes fast movements and prevents blur.
Creative double exposures and long exposures
The double exposure function allows you to combine two images into a single, artistic photo. For impressive night shots or light trails, the long exposure mode allows exposure times of up to 10 seconds, although a tripod is recommended for blur-free results.
Flash functions and brightness adjustment
The Instax Mini 99 offers various flash functions, including an automatic flash that adjusts to the ambient brightness, a fill flash for backlit shots, red-eye correction and the ability to turn the flash off completely. In addition, you can adjust the brightness of your photos in five levels, from L+ (very bright) to D- (very dark), to achieve the perfect exposure.
Colorful effects and vignetting
The integrated LED lighting system allows you to apply six different color effects to your photos, including Faded Green, Warm Tone, Light Blue, Soft Magenta, Sepia and Light Leak. For an artistic touch, use the Vignetting mode, which darkens the edges of the image and highlights the subject in the center.
Practical functions
The Fujifilm Instax Mini 99 has a self-timer with a lead time of around 10 seconds, ideal for group photos or self-portraits. A practical LCD display shows the shooting mode, flash status, battery level, selected color effect and the number of shots remaining. The NP-70S battery allows you to shoot around 10 packs of film before it needs to be recharged.
The size of the case is 10.3 x 11.7 x 6 cm. The weight of the camera, without film and battery, is 340 grams. According to Fujifilm, it is produced in Thailand.
Films for the Fujifilm Instax Mini 99
The Instax Mini 99 uses Fujifilm Instax Mini instant films, which are automatically ejected after being inserted into the camera and the shutter button pressed. The development process takes about 90 seconds, depending on the ambient temperature. The camera counts down the remaining shots and displays "0" when the film is full.
There is a color film (Instax Mini Film*) and a black and white film (Instax Mini Monochrome*). There are also different editions with different designs (eBay / Amazon*), for example with characters from Sanrio or Disney.
For best results, keep films cool, use before the expiration date, and protect from extreme temperatures and x-rays. Avoid damaging or opening the film as it contains a black, caustic paste.
If you touch the paste, wash thoroughly and seek medical attention if it comes into contact with your eyes or mouth. Do not touch the image during development and store the finished photos in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
