The Cosina CT-4 is a reflex camera. It was built by Cosina. In West Germany, the camera was also sold as "Porst Compact Reflex AM". A similar version was sold as Vivitar XV-3
The lenses of the Cosina CT-4 can be exchanged. Lenses with a Pentax K bayonet can be used. The lens is focused manually. The Cosina CT-4 does not have an autofocus.
The Cosina CT-4 has an exposure meter for photographing. This is designed for an ISO range from 25 to 3200. The exposure is measured trough the lens. In Auto mode, the aperture is set by the photographer and the exposure time is set automatically. The exposure time can also be set manually.
The camera comes with a bulb mode. The shutter can remain open for a variable time. In addition to a PC flash connection, the Cosina CT-4 can be used with hot shoe flashes.
Films for the Cosina CT-4
Which films are required for the Cosina CT-4? The camera is designed for 35mm films. The 35mm format is the most common film format. Therefore, some manufacturers still produce for this format. For color shots there is the Fujifilm Superia 400*. One way to get black-and-white images is the Kodak T-Max 100*.
The color film is a negative film and is processed in the C-41 development process. This development process is available at almost every photo lab.
The exposure range of the Cosina CT-4 is 24 mm x 36 mm. The film is rewound manually. With an additional motor, the film is automatically rewound. This enables continuous shooting, 2 frames per second.
The 35mm camera has a self-timer. There is also a thread for a tripod. The dimensions of the Cosina CT-4 are 13,5 x 8,5 x 4,8 cm. It brings 530 g on the scales. The power supply comes from two LR44 batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
The 35mm camera is only available in used condition since the production was stopped. The price for a used copy of the depends on the condition and functionality.
