The Cavalier EE Auto 35 is a rangefinder camera. It was sold in the 1960s under the Cavalier brand. Production took place on the island of Honshu in Japan at Taron. They offered a similar model for photographers in Asia under the name "Taron Auto EE".
The Cavalier EE Auto 35 is equipped with a lens that cannot be changed. The focal length can not be changed and is 45 mm. The biggest aperture opening of the lens is f/1.8. There is no autofocus with the 35mm camera. You have to focus manually on the subject. The built-in rangefinder helps to do this. The minimum distance to the subject must be 90 cm.
The camera has a built-in light meter. It was designed to work with films between ISO 10 and ISO 400. The desired f-stop number as well as the shutter speed can be set by the user.
The 35mm camera comes with a bulb mode. The shutter can remain open for a variable time. An external flash can be used via the PC flash socket. The 35mm camera has a thread for a tripod. In addition, there is a connector for a cable release and a self-timer.
At a weight of 750 grams the size of the Cavalier EE Auto 35 is 13,5 x 9,2 x 7,5 cm. The camera needs one PX625 battery (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Cavalier EE Auto 35
The Cavalier EE Auto 35 exposes 35mm film. 35mm films are still produced today and are quite easy to get. A good choice for color photography is the Kodak Gold 200*. If you want to stay monochrome, the Kodak T-Max 100* is not bad.
The color film is processed in the C-41 process. The C-41 process is offered by almost every photo lab.
For example, a 36-frame 35mm film can hold at least 36 photos at this size. The photographer has to rewind the film manually.
