Canon TX

The Canon TX is a 35mm camera. It belongs to the group of SLR cameras and was presented in the 1970s.

The TX is a stripped down version of the Canon FTb. It was designed for the mass market overseas and was never sold in Japan. Biggest change is the fastest shutter speed is only 1/500 seconds. The metering field was center weighted instead of 12% partially center weighted.

The lens of the Canon TX is interchangeable. Lenses with a Canon FD bayonet can be used. Mostly, the 35mm camera is equipped with the Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 SC. You have to focus the lens manually.

The 35mm camera has a built-in light meter. The light meter was designed for films with a sensitivity of ISO 25 to ISO 2000. The SLR determines the exposure by metering through the lens (TTL). The desired shutter speed can be determined manually. The aperture is also freely selectable.

The Canon TX has, for example for long exposures, a Bulb mode. In this mode, the shutter is opened as long as the shutter release button is pressed. With the PC flash connector and the hot shoe, the use of a flash is possible.

The 35mm camera has a built-in self-timer. In addition, there is a connection for a cable release and a thread for a tripod. The camera weighs in at 680 grams. The dimensions are 14.4 x 9.3 x 4.3 cm. The camera requires a 1.35 V mercury battery.

Films for the Canon TX

The Canon TX is designed for the 35mm format. 35mm films are still manufactured today. Developed they can be in most laboratories. Nice 35mm films for color or black and white are the Kodak Portra 160* and the AgfaPhoto APX 400*.

The color film is processed using the C-41 process. This development process is offered by most laboratories. You can drop off your films at most drugstore chains in Germany, for example.
