Canon FT QL

The Canon FT QL is an SLR camera. It was built by Canon in Japan in the 1960s. Unlike the Canon Pellix, which also dates back to that time, the mirror is not fixed, but flips up during exposure.

The Canon FT QL comes with interchangeable lenses. Lenses with a Canon FL bayonet can be used. Focusing is manual. The camera is often found together with a fast standard lens.

The 35mm camera has an exposure meter. It can be used with films from ISO 25 to ISO 2000. Exposure metering takes place through the lens on the 35mm SLR (TTL).

The aperture and exposure time can be freely selected. The shutter supports exposure times up to 1/1000 second. In addition, the camera comes with a Bulb setting option. An external flash can be used via the PC flash socket. A clip-on flash can be attached to the cold shoe.

The Canon FT QL has a built-in self-timer and a connection option for a cable release. Additionally, there is a thread for a tripod. The Canon FT QL measures 14.4 x 9.3 x 10 cm. The 35mm camera is powered by a 1.3V mercury battery.

Films for the Canon FT QL

What kind of films does the Canon FT QL need? It requires 35mm film. 35mm film is still made and will develop without problems at most photo labs. For black and white images, you can go for the AgfaPhoto APX 400*. For color images, the Kodak Ultramax 400* is an option.

To make loading the film easier, the camera was equipped with Canon's QL (Quick Load) function. Cameras with this function do not require the user to put the film leader on a spool.
