Agfa Ambiflex

The Agfa Ambiflex is an SLR camera for 35mm film. It was introduced in the late 1950s and manufactured by Agfa Camerawerk Munich in Germany.

The Agfa Ambiflex has the possibility to exchange the lenses. By default, the SLR comes with an Agfa Color-Solinar 1:2.8/50. Focusing is manual, of course.

Exposure can also be set manually. However, a selenium light meter helps with the exposure. Sensitivities from ISO 8 to ISO 640 are supported.

Other features include a connection for an external flash and a thread for a tripod. A special feature of the Ambiflex is the Prontor Reflex leaf shutter. The body is largely made of metal, which makes the camera very sturdy and heavy.

The viewfinder of the Agfa Ambiflex can be exchanged. You can choose between a prism viewfinder and a shaft viewfinder.

In export, the camera was sold as Agfaflex.

Films for the camera

Of course you can still use the camera. Of course you need the right films for this. Films for the 35mm format are offered by various manufacturers. These include Kodak, Fujifilm, Ilford, Foma and Lomography.

A good color film to get started with is Kodak Ektar 100*. One choice for slides is the Fujifilm Provia 100F*. These films deliver solid results with this camera. Around 36 images fit on one roll of film.

Development is offered by many photo laboratories. You can usually have photo prints made directly from the negatives.

Assessment of the camera value

How much is a used camera worth? The current value depends heavily on the operational capability of the camera. The potential additional scope of delivery also plays a role. At the moment the average price for a used copy is 165,39 Euro.
